Information Program Specialist

Joanna Martin is an information program specialist with the DOE's Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) which has statutory responsibilities for managing the collections of scientific and technical information (STI) for the department with a focus on services and products to support public access and open science. Joanna is also the Co-Chair for the Science.gov Alliance which administers Science.gov, a federated search tool which accesses over 60 databases, over 2,200 websites, and over 200 million pages of authoritative federal science information in many formats, including full-text. Joanna has been instrumental is implementing features within Science.gov to promote public access to research results including a specialized search for agency-funded peer-reviewed manuscripts across the agencies, and will soon host agency APIs to this content in support of open science. Joanna is a member of CENDI, an interagency collaboration serving the federal STI community, which provides primary support of Science.gov. She is a graduate of American University with a B.A. in Sociology and holds a master’s degree from Catholic University of America concentrating in domestic policy and administration.
