Program Director, Science of Science and Innovation Policy
Cassidy R. Sugimoto is a Professor of Informatics in the School of Informatics, Computer Science, and Engineering at Indiana University Bloomington. She is currently serving as the Program Director of the Science of Science and Innovation Policy program at the National Science Foundation. Prof. Sugimoto's expertise is in the areas of diversity and openness in science, with particular emphasis on gender, mobility, peer review, and open access. She has published more than a hundred journal articles and conference papers and several edited and co-authored monographs. Her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation, Institute for Museum and Library Services, and the Sloan Foundation. Prof. Sugimoto is dedicated to teaching and service and has received numerous awards in these areas. She is currently President of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics and serves on several editorial boards. She has an undergraduate degree in music performance, and MS in library science, and a PhD in information science, all from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
